Using International Support

There are a number of international NGOs with programmes in your country. Many of these have adopted a human rights approach to development or are actively focused on the promotion of economic, social and cultural rights.

Forming alliances with them provides two distinct opportunities to assist your advocacy.

1. These NGOs are usually well-connected with the donor agencies and have a large constituency in the developed countries. They can mobilize pressure on the donors to listen to your concern
2. The international NGOs also have dealings with officials in your government and they can use their own negotiations to promote the changes in government policy and practice that you recommend
