Some people even claim that the concept of human rights is not indigenous to all cultures and societies and that the International Bill of Rights demonstrates a Eurocentric view of the world.
Yet people in all cultures and all societies have taken action when their welfare and well-being and those of their families are put under threat by state institutions. These challenges to authority have often gone unrecorded because official histories are so often written by the victors.
