7. Development Trends Since World War II

Numerous development models have come and gone since 1945. Various interpretations of the meaning of development have been superceded by new ones as attempts to address the problems of under-development have gained in urgency. This explains the rise and passing of such terms as "sustainable development", "human development", "women in development" and most recently "the human rights approach to development".
