Introduction

THE ENVELOP

Recently, I visited some old friends in the U.S. At the end of my visit, they gave me an envelope: "This is something for your work." I placed the envelop in my pocket. But they said: "Aren't you going to open it?" I then opened the envelop and discovered that it was a very large sum of money. They had made a considerable sacrifice for our mission work.

When I returned home, I wrote Mr. and Mrs. ____ a letter of thanks. She, in turn, wrote to me and said that she was hurt and surprised at my initial reaction. My manner did not show the excitement and appreciation that she had anticipated.
