Hotline Training 2001

Basic Writing Skills for Human Rights Appeal

Realising that in the field of justice, peace and human rights, a continually widening and more efficient network is necessary to provide information and to support related actions. To achieve this, ACPP-Hotline Asia organised a three-day training workshop in Hong Kong on 10-12 July 2001.

For creating and strengthening the network of individuals who would play an active role at the national level, this workshop aimed to:

  1. review basic understanding on Human Rights concept, definition, and the existing UN system;
  2. unfold and share basic skills on collecting, checking and verifying information;
  3. sharpen participant's basic writing skills;
  4. stimulate and challenge analytical skills on the socio-economic aspect;
  5. network among participants.

The training workshop was implemented through inputs, individual and group works, discussions and other participatory activities. It was expected that the trainee would become an efficient local contact person on justice, peace and human rights issues, assist us in providing accurate and clear written information regarding unjust situations and human rights abuses in their countries.
